Today is Family Volunteer Day!

Today may seem like a normal Saturday, but it’s not! Today is Family Volunteer Day! I posted about what our family does to give back to our community here. Family Volunteer Day is a day of service that celebrates the power of families that work together and help their communities. Family Volunteer Day is held the Saturday before Thanksgiving to really help kick off the holiday spirit of giving. This year we did some volunteering before Family Volunteer day and today we decided to keep our volunteering really close to home and help out our community directly. We went around the neighborhood cleaning up neighbor’s yards. We have some elderly neighbors that we know it’s too difficult for them to get out and clean up their yard of all the trash that blows through.

Celebrate Family Volunteer Day!

No other activity has brought our family closer together than volunteering and giving back to our community. Even when my kids were really young I knew I wanted them understand the value and purpose to giving back and volunteering. I don’t always have a set schedule on when or where we volunteer and some of the most needed opportunities come up out of the blue. I am always on the lookout though for causes our family can contribute to. That is why I am really excited about Family Volunteer day!

A Glimpse At My Day (8/15)

August 2013

Easy

Today I was feeling pretty lazy, so most of the day I spent sitting in various chairs around the house listening to music and playing with kids.

I have a ton of work (for Mamas Spot) that just keeps piling up everyday and I felt a little overwhelmed by it all today.

So what did I do ab out it? Absolutely nothing, ugghh! Oh well I spent a lot of time with the kiddos today and I don't regret that for a moment.

My little boy kept wondering why I was starring at him while he played a game. lol

I love how chill he always looks.

My little girl has already found a love interest at the age of 4!! Before her friend came over today she asked me "do you think he will think I look pretty today?"

And funny enough when she opened the front door his eyes got bigger and he said "you look so pretty in that dress!"

Kids are so funny! It scares me when they start acting much older though. lol

I guess I shouldn't end this with the worst part of my day, but oh well. This is my amazing bike. I absolutely love it!

So what's the problem? This is where is stays 99.9% of the time. I stopped riding it and now it just sits in the garage looking pretty.

To say I will get back to riding any time soon would be a lie, so I decided to sell it. Frown

I hate having things sitting around that could be used even if it's not by me, so it's time for it to find a new owner.

It was nice the few times I used it, but I need to figure out what I am going to do to get my mind in the right place to consistently work out.

My favorite music today? Yes I have specific music I listen to every day. (I know I'm a little weird) I couldn't get enough of Head and The Heart today.

That is how my day went, how was your day?

A Glimpse At My Day (8/14)

August 2013

Easy

Yep that's right... I spent a good portion of my day at the DMV today. Talk about fun, haha!

I had to renew my drivers license which just made me realize how time has flown by since I did my last renewal. (before I even had kids!!)

Ahhh... if I could only go back in time and tell myself to relax a little more while I can. lol

Waiting in line and trying to entertain kiddos in what might be the most boring place ever for a kid, was second to the annoyance of having to show them every piece of paper I have to show I really am who I say I am.

I went in with my old drivers license and my social security card thinking I would be set.

Here is what they actually needed from me:

:: old drivers license

:: social security

:: Bank Statement

:: Birth Certificate

:: 2 Utility Bills

After all that I was wondering if they would like my first born as well?

So after rummaging through my car and calling my mom (for my birth certificate - thanks mom) I somehow was able to piece it all together.

And now in 2-3 weeks I will have a brand spanking new DL. Yippee, I'm glad that's over with.

And you don't want to know how much I paid for this today... let's just say I was lazy so I quickly stopped by the gas station instead of heading to the store.

This baby was $4, I know all my fellow couponers are gasping right now. To put it into perspective I usually pay only $1.99 per gallon. Oh well.

Some days you save a ton of money and some days you don't.

These on the other hand I got for FREE today!!! (I will tell you more about that later) Our whole family is headed to Florida next week!

For those keeping track... yes this will make twice in one summer! Crazy I know!!

I drank WAY TOO many of these today! When I can't even estimate a number I know I've had a lot!

I might get back to eating healthy someday. lol

My favorite music today was definitely the One Republic - Native Album

So much so, that my kiddos now know all the lyrics (yes I played it that much today lol)

I also spent a lot of my day coming up with new content for Mamas Spot. I want to provide you guys with some more creative and useful travel posts and more.

So keep an eye out next week for more great articles.

That is how my day went, how was your day?
