If you are around my age you probably will remember on road trips just staring out the window for entertainment. Sure I had a coloring book and occasionally my mom would even play a game of tick-tac-toe with me, but in car entertainment was definitely limited compared to today’s standards. I honestly don’t know how my parents did it. I am always making sure my kids have plenty of entertainment just so I don’t want to pull my hair out by the end of the trip. How many times can you hear “Are we there yet?”

School is in full swing and I couldn’t be happier to see my little learners get back to expanding their horizons and soaking in new information. Starting the new school year can be a time of great excitement… and anxiety for kids and parents. Back to school can be tough even on the most prepared parents. Becoming financially responsible has been a huge topic in our home recently. With two older kids we want to make sure they are fiscally responsible and we know it’s our job as parents to make sure they are ready for the real world. We have set up budgets and jobs for all of our kids, but it can be difficult to distribute that money to them. Gone are the days of a piggy bank. In this day in age with so much technology it just seems so antiquated.

When I come across amazing sites like Skillshare I just have to stop for a moment and really soak in what a great time it is to be alive. Nothing like this was even possible 10 years ago. If you wanted to learn a new skill the answer would unanimously be “go to school; enroll in a college course”. You had to go to college to learn new skills or go dig up a library book and hope it had all the information you needed, but now with Skillshare you can learn right in your own home (possibly even with your PJ’s still on).

Earlier this year I found myself with a phone that had a completely dead battery. I realized I was constantly plugging it in to keep it charged. Normally I would look at getting a new phone, but this has been a crazy year and honestly, I still love everything else about my phone. I tried using a standard battery pack for a while, but found it was way too bulky and I couldn't stand having a cord attached to my phone all the time.
