Tuesday's Tip: How To Clean and Restore Your Kitchen Sponges!

May 2013

Easy

Did you know that you can clean and even restore your used sponges? Well you can!

I used to hate using sponges because I didn't like how much bacteria they can harbor, but with these tricks your sponge can be clean and like brand new!

All you need to clean your sponge is a microwave! Zapping sponges and plastic scrubbing pads in the microwave can kill bacteria, such as E. coli, that can cause illness.

We can knock out most bacteria in two minutes!

Cleaning Tips:

Microwave only sponges or plastic scrubbers that do not contain steel or other metals.
Make sure the sponge or scrubber is wet, not dry.
Two minutes should be enough to kill most disease-causing germs.
Be careful in removing the sponge from the microwave because it will be hot and should not be handled immediately after zapping.

Restoring Tips:

To restore your sponge just leave it overnight in a solution of 1 cup salt and 2 quarts water.

In the morning it will look like it has come back to life!

April 2013

Easy

Source

With all the spring gardening going on right now here is an awesome tip to keep your garden weed free!!

Step 1: Plant your plants or flowers

Step 2: Grab some old newspaper and get it damp

Step 3: Place it over where you planted

No more weeds!!

Over time the newspaper will decompose adding more richness to your garden, and you will get plenty of worms that will be under your newspaper also adding richness to the soil.

So if you plan on doing some planting soon, make sure to take some newspaper with you!

Tuesday's Tip: How to easily get your waffle iron, panini maker or grill super clean every time!

April 2013

Easy

Some of you might already know this trick, but for those who don't this is how I get my waffle iron, panini maker and my mini grill clean!

In the past I never wanted to make waffles because I dreaded having to clean out the waffle iron afterward, but with this trick I find myself making waffles almost every weekend!

Once you are done making your food unplug it and place 2 wet paper towels between the lid and the surface.

This will cause it to be steam cleaned! once all the steam is gone, take a dry paper towel and wipe off any extra crumbs or residue.

And that's it!! How easy is that?!!

Tuesday's Tip: Make Your Own Homemade Glass Cleaner Wipes!

April 2013

Easy

It's time for Spring cleaning!!! And if you have little ones like I do, you probably have little hand prints on your windows too!! Laughing

I will be the first to admit that with little kids I like cleaning products that make my life easier and convenient!

So I am super excited to share with you how to make your own glass cleaner wipes!

If you buy these at the store, making these will save you a lot of money and they work just as well!

Here is what you will need:

:: 1 roll of paper towels (try to get the thickest ones you can)
:: 1/2 cup of vinegar
:: 1/2 cup of rubbing alcohol
:: 1 1/2 cups of water

First start by cutting your paper towel in half - like above.

Once you have your paper towel roll put into a container of your choice. I used a baby wipes container, but you can use an up right container as well.

Pour all your liquids onto the paper towels and start using them!

If you put them into an upright container just pull out the cardboard and pull them out by the center.
