8 Weird Beauty Tips That Actually Work!

Easy

1. Wash Your Face With Honey

We know it sounds bizarre, but honey is actually an anti-inflammatory and really soothing! It removes makeup without stripping as well, notes esthetician and founder of BijaBody health+beauty Melissa Picoli. “Scoop it out with a spoon, and use it to wash your face,” she says. “Then remove with a warm wash cloth once you’re finished.”

2. Use Medicated Chapstick as a Cuticle Conditioner

Over the years, licensed esthetician and makeup artist Felicia Alva has definitely heard her fair share of “unique” beauty tips (mostly from clients). Of the ones she’s actually tried though, she swears by this one. “Just like your lips get dehydrated, crack, and peel, so do your cuticles,” she says. “The Medicated Chapstick really helps heal, hydrate, and protect them.”

3. Make a DIY Scrub With Coffee Grounds

Bored and stuck at a hotel? Grab the free coffee grounds they give you, and brew up your own scrub, says Picoli. “Mix with your body wash or conditioner, and scrub the whole body! Finish by applying a gorgeous lotion, and enjoy the glow.”

4. Get Long Lasting Lip Color With Jell-O

Ever notice how you always end up with red hands after making Jell-O? Hmm, turns out it’s a pretty great lip stain after all. To get the look, celebrity makeup artist for Physicians Formula, Joanna Schlip, says to “pour the powder mix into a bowl and moisten a Q-Tip with water. Then, being very careful not to use your fingers since the red stains stay put, dip the Q-Tip into the powder and apply it directly to your lips.” This is a great non-drying alternative (since most long-wearing lipsticks dry out your lips) that will leave behind a stain all day, she says.

5. Smear Preparation H Cream on Your Face to Smooth Wrinkles

Although Alva admits she has never tried it, her client who has, loves it and looks great, she says. “Apparently Preparation H really gets rid of the wrinkles and gives the face a tight, smooth complexion, at least temporarily,” says Alva. “Avoid the eye area though,” she warns, “as this stuff is meant for the tush!”

6. De-Bloat With Apple Cider Vinegar

There’s nothing worst than feeling like a bloated mess. To kick that yucky sensation to the curb, Picoli says mix 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with 5 ounces of water and drink up. “Within 30 minutes, the vinegar’s enzymes will slow down your gastric juice production and support proper digestion.”

7. Add Body to Limp Locks With Beer

Looking to add a little volume to your mane? Of course you are! Pour some beer into a bottle (and no, we don’t mean a Bud Light bottle silly), and spritz it onto your locks from roots to ends. “The yeast in the beer makes the hair really puffy and thick,” says LA-based celebrity hairstylist Frank Galasso.

8. Use Chamomile Tea to Lighten Hair

Chamomile Tea can be used for a lot of things, but one of the best we’ve heard is to lighten hair. “It’s made from a flower that carries a mild bleaching effect, which is why it works,” says Megan Franks, esthetician and operations manager at Paradise Skin Products. “Before you hop in the shower, make a cup of tea and bring it in with you. Then slowly rinse through your hair, and allow the tea to sit 10-15 minutes. Repeat up to six times as necessary to enhance the effects.”
