Hawaii and budget; not two words you would think could go together, but I promise it is possible. The Hawaiian dream can be for anyone and here’s how you can make it happen without breaking the bank.
Believe it or not you can actually stay near the beach for a fraction of the cost of the four and five star hotels you just need to know who to talk to! When I tried to find cheap, comfortable, convenient location and highly rated in Honolulu, I kept coming across the same result: The Surftide. After speaking with the owner and manager I found out that they also have other properties if you are looking for something bigger or more in a mid-range. We decided to spend a few nights at The Surftide and a couple at a neighboring property The Pacific Monarch.
The Surftide is a fully renovated building with new furnishings that opened on May 15, 2017. The Surftide offers spacious rooms, balconies and a kitchenette for any cooking you might want to do which will save you even more! The rooms are well lit and the property is just minutes away from the beach and easily walkable. There are many stores within walking distance as well. If you are looking to keep your food budget under control I highly recommend using the kitchenette and buy foods that the locals eat.
This is always my recommendation for any new place you visit. If you eat like the locals you will save more money. For Hawaii this includes rice, chicken and Spam Musubi and a few other options.
The Pacific Monarch is a property I would highly suggest for budget family travelers. The property has a rooftop pool, amazing 360 views and can accommodate up to 4 people.
This property comes with a full kitchen ready for any cooking you might need to do. This apartment is very spacious and has a dining area as well as a small living room. One of the more impressive features is the large balcony that extends across one side of the apartment.
