We had many amazing activities planned on our recent trip to Long Beach, but none were quite as unique and special as our Gondola ride through the waterways of Naples, Long Beach. Our 14th wedding anniversary coincided with our trip, and we knew we wanted it to be a spectacular anniversary. We weren’t sure what to expect, and even though my husband has been to Venice, neither of us had been on a Gondola before.
I have always wanted to experience a real gondola ride, and I couldn’t wait to share the experience with my husband! After all, what could be more romantic than gliding through the water, staring off at the sunset with the one you love?
The Gondola Getaway has been doing these little romantic adventures since 1982 (Hey, the year I was born!), and has perfected it to an art. Once aboard your gondola, you are swept away into the history of the area and serenaded by your gondolier . I was incredibly impressed with the gondola; it was beautiful and quite large. Gondola Getaway does an amazing job making the gondolas not only authentic, but also comfortable! So comfortable, that by the end I really didn’t want to get out. The Gondoliers were fantastic as well! They were great entertainers, and I couldn't believe how hard they had to work to control the gondola, it isn't an easy job!
We enjoyed an extra special treat that I don’t think most even get to experience in Venice! Gondola Getaway provided us with dinner while we were on our gondola. Just the two of us eating a romantic dinner while drifting through the water and being serenaded is definitely something I will always remember. We were served a fresh ground peperoni pizza, creamy fettuccini alfredo and a to die for tiramisu for dessert. You definitely want to make sure to add this amazing meal to your gondola ride.
Gondola Getaway gives you an experience as close to Venice as possible, and is not only a fantastic romantic adventure, but also makes for a perfect addition for a friends getaway too! This is something for anyone at any age. I can’t wait to go back and take a gondola ride with our kids; I know it’s something they would really love.
