It’s almost time for back to school! While most families get ready and gather supplies, I have this nagging thought over and over again. I start to think of all the possible germs or other things kids can come home with, most of which you can’t do anything about. Our family has always had a plan if a certain little pest happens to hitchhike back to our home.

I don’t know a single parent that doesn’t shudder at the thought of lice. The thought of going through your kid’s hair trying to get rid of these little pests is not a pleasant thought for anyone and this is why I have a secret tool to combat them. I remember back when I was in school they were thought of as a dirty bug that only went in your hair if it was dirty. This is of course a complete myth. Lice don’t discriminate and no child is immune to them. You’d probably be surprised to know that lice is the second most frequent health issue for school-aged kids in the US.
Keep in mind if your child gets lice that they don’t carry any sicknesses they are just gross. It’s much worse to get a tick or other bugs that can actually cause illness.
So here is what to do if your child comes home with lice or you get the dreaded lice notice from the school:
You might think there isn’t much for prevention but there is a great way to keep these little bugs at bay.
