2020 has definitely thrown me for a loop. Like most of you; everything that was once normal has changed. If this was any other year I would be sharing many overseas travels with you right now. Instead I will be homebound for the foreseeable future. I try to lean on the positive side when life throws curveballs my way and so I wanted to make the best of this situation. I knew this was my opportunity to explore my own backyard. So many times travelers forget about the adventure and beauty that lies right in their own hometowns.

As a family, we have been to Thailand numerous times, but every time we would leave I felt like we had missed something. Every trip was great, and we had visited every historic site and interesting attraction on our list and yet I still felt like something was missing. We always try to have an authentic experience wherever we go and I felt like we just weren’t completely achieving that when visiting Thailand.

I had a big to-do list for 2020, but this year has thrown all of us a huge curveball. Most of the items I had on my list I have had to table for now. Travel plans and other things I wanted to do have been put on hold. This had me take a closer look at what I wanted to accomplish this year that was within my control; things I could cross off my list no matter what is going on in the world. A big one that stood out was to sign up for life insurance. As I read this on my list the irony of the perfect timing of this task wasn’t lost on me.

When you stay at a hotel you can almost guarantee your room is not going to be unique. It will look very much the same as every other room at the property, if not exactly the same. When visiting a destination like London I want something special, a place to not only rest my head after a busy day of sightseeing, but a place that adds to the whole experience.

With so much rich history and so many countries to visit it can be hard to narrow down what places to visit on a European trip. Our family has planned many European roads trips now and we have visited so many beautiful destinations. There are some places though that will always stand out, the ones you will always remember and can’t get over how amazing they are. One of these places is Gdańsk, Poland.
