Walmart has released information on the return of their Christmas Layaway program that is returning for the 2012 Christmas season.

Layaway will open up on September 16, 2012 and continue through December 14, 2012.

Layaway 2012 will be a bit different, for the better, than in 2011.

Here is some of the details you need to know:

The Layaway Program is extended for an additional month compared to 2011
More Items Are Eligible for Layaway including small home appliances and select sporting goods such as basketball goals, trampolines and large exercise equipment. Customers can also use layaway for a broad selection of electronics, toys and jewelry.
Begin using Layaway (2) Days Earlier (9/14/12) when you "Like" your local Walmart on Facebook. Customers simply need to sign up on their local Walmart Facebook page beginning August 28 to be able to start their layaway two days early on Sept. 14.
Receive a FULL REFUND of the layaway open fee ($15) on a Walmart gift card when you make your final payment

A down payment of 10 percent or $10, whichever is greater, is required and is applied to the purchase. 

Individual items must be priced $15 or more, and the total layaway purchase must be at least $50. 

If the order is cancelled or not paid in full, the open fee is not refunded; however, no additional cancellation fee will be charged.

Walgreens it getting ready to launch their Loyalty Card program they are calling “Walgreens Balance™ Rewards”

Here is some information from a Walgreens representative:

The program is simple: just sign up and start saving. You will be able to instantly earn and redeem points for thousands of items in store and online and receive exclusive savings. Balance Rewards will include many of the best aspects of existing loyalty programs and have distinct features that competitors do not match, including:

Members can earn points for making healthy choices, such as getting an immunization or participating in Walk with Walgreens (walk.walgreens.com).
A lenient, customer-friendly expiration policy – points will not expire as long as members remain active by shopping at Walgreens at least once every six months and redeem their points within three years.
Members may earn and redeem points for both in store and online purchases.
Exclusive benefits for AARP members.

The current Register Rewards program, will be able to be used in conjunction with the Balance Rewards program.

From September 2 – 15th, you can join online at http://Walgreens.com/Balance.

The program officially kicks off on September the 16th, 2012. You will be able to register in-store starting then.
