This Giveaway has now ended!

So I have been doing my Mamas Challenge, for a week and I will be doing an update every week and a Giveaway every other Wednesday!

So the hardest thing this first week has been giving up Mt. Dew! I have been having huge withdrawals, I know it sounds stupid having caffeine withdrawals, but you can get major headaches and other issues

even if you just don't drink as much! So on top of having a cute little two year old headache; I now have caffeine withdrawal headaches.

So far I have been walking/jogging at least 4 miles almost every day. I pass by at least two parks, so the kids have been loving this as well! I have also started watching my calories (not in a super

obsessive way) just so I can make sure I am staying on track. I will let you know how things are going next week!

The other day my Mother-In Law was making something that I thought looked kind of odd and as I was looking at the package I thought it was a joke! I know these are horrible pictures, but if you look at the nutrition facts on the first one you will see why I am so shocked! The number I am surprised by is 0 and it's on everything! 0 Calories, 0 Fat, 0 Protein! I now have seen it all! This is a yam cake (not to be confused with sweet potatoes) You won't get any calories or fat from it and you will actually get negative calories with this because of the calories you will burn eating and digesting it! I had know idea such a food existed!

So I thought I would try it! I was hoping to replace one meal a day with this. It would be dangerous to only eat this all day because it also doesn't have any vitamins, minerals or protein that you need.

So it also comes in a noodle form so I put it in a pot and put some soy sauce with it. It has no flavor so you have to add some sort of seasoning. My husband just starred at me laughing while I was preparing to take my first bite. It has no flavor like I said so I wasn't worried about it tasting bad, but I just couldn't get over the texture! It was so rubbery! I just kept chewing and chewing until I just had to finally swallow it. Needless to say this won't be the miracle weight loss food I was hoping for! Oh wellSmile

So for our first "Workout Wednesday Giveaway" I will be giving one lucky winner a copy of Zumba Fitness for Wii! All you have to do to enter is "like" Mamas Spot on Facebook here and leave a comment about what you do to stay healthy. If you are already a fan of Mamas Spot (thank you) and just leave a comment! This giveaway will end next Wednesday, April 27th.

Mamas Challenge Update!

April 2011

So I will doing an update every week on my progress with the Mamas Challenge. I know that this is a couponing blog (obviously) but I love to talk (or as my husband says "ramble") And I believe talking to you will help me accomplish my challenge!

I want Mamas Spot to be a place where we can get advice from one another and be more of a community (I hope that doesn't sound too, Mr. Rogers)

So if you too are trying to be healthier or trying to lose weight, please feel free to leave comments about what you are trying and how you feel about it.

Or if you are already fit and healthy (lucky you!) maybe you have some tips of your own!

Anyway... so onto my two day progress! So I don't think I am going to have a problem with the working out.

Every time my beautiful little girl starts melting down and I am ready to lock her in her room till she's 19! It feels so great to toss the kids into the stroller (not literally) and to get some fresh air!

And luckily both of my babies love getting out and will actually be good for about 2 1/2 hours. They just love people watching and taking in the sights.

So I think my big problem is going to be my diet, and wow is it a problem! So I was reviewing what I have been eating for the past couple of days and here where a just few things on my menu:

5 - 44oz Mt. Dew

3 - Chocolate Cake Doughnuts

Half a pizza

Who knows how many chips - I lost count.

And that's just a couple of things. Embarassed Needless to say it's really embarrassing. I know it's not a good excuse, but I just get so busy sometimes I feel like I only have time for junk food.

The funny thing (and good thing) is that I feed my kids the exact opposite. My little girl loves tofu, veggies and yogurt! If I had her diet I would probably be just fine.

I just feel like I'm in a rut right now! I have been a vegetarian for almost 7 years and you would think I would have it down right now, but instead I'm just kind of lost on what to eat.

Unfortunately it doesn't help that I am a picky eater! My parents always thought I would outgrow it, but here I am an adult married with two kids and I still hate most vegetables.

That's right I am a vegetarian that hates veggies!  I thought about it the other day and I probably like about 8 different vegetables and that's counting tomatoes (I don't care what anyone says; to me they are a vegetable). You might not think 8 is too bad, but start counting how many you eat! (trust me you will probably get way past eight)

It's kind of embarrassing, my husband eats more veggies and tofu than I do and he's not a vegetarian!

So because of this I eat a lot of starches and junk food. Which doesn't do a lot for your figure. So I am going to try to do a complete overhaul to my diet and I will update you with my progress next week! Stay tuned!

Mamas Challenge: 5 month's - 5 miles - 50 pounds

April 2011

Easy

So I got this great jogging stroller the other week (I really like the cute accessories in the stroller) I've never actually paid for a stroller before, I have always been able to find a free one. So this was definitely a splurge (and no I didn't have a coupon for it)

And now that I have a great jogging stroller I feel I have no excuse to not lose weight! I have been wanting to lose weight ever since I had my little boy.  Unfortunately I have two vices; Mt. Dew & anything that comes from a bakery! (maybe that qualifies as more than twoLaughing )

But I feel like it's time to get my butt into gear, literally.

So I am making a challenge for myself: 5 month's - 5 miles - 50 pounds.

I am going to walk/jog from now until the end of August, going roughly around 5 miles at least four days a week and my goal is to lose around 50 pounds! (Obviously these numbers will fluctuate)

I want to be healthy and happy and I don't feel really healthy right now. So it's time to get into shape!

As part of this I would love to hear from you what you are doing to be healthy. So I will be having a Workout Wednesday Giveaway every other Wednesday!

My little ones deserve to have a Mama that's full of pep and energy!

So join me this summer in getting healthy! Let's see what we can accomplish by August!
