His passion for food is tangible, you can feel it, you can taste it. Chef Dan Dienemann pulls up a chair next to our table and starts to describe that passion, and how it is incorporated into the food he prepares and serves every day at Barrel & Bushel. So much passion for a restaurant I might not normally think to visit if I wasn’t already staying at The Hyatt Regency at Tysons Corner right next door. I can’t believe anyone could possibly miss out on this place. By the way, the picture above is his take on Chicken & Waffles! Bourbon french toast, B&B pickles, B&B hot sauce and buttered amber maple syrup. Is your mouth watering yet? You know you want some.
We are first served never mind I can’t actually remember what we were first served, because the one thing I have embedded in my brain and will never forget is the 72-hour pork belly. Nope, that’s not a typo. 72-hours! This little piece of heaven was pampered and loved for 72 hours before arriving on your plate, and it is amazing. If you eat Barrel & Bushel and don’t order the 72-hour pork belly, you’re a madman. You know a dish is special when it makes you almost forget all the rest.
The 72-hour pork belly shows you the dedication and love that is put into the food at Barrel & Bushel. You think it’s just fantastic tasting food they just threw together in the kitchen really quick? Think again, there is planning and preparation that goes into every dish that you could never dream of.
Now normally you would expect some hefty prices to match that kind of dedication to quality food, but that’s the best part, Barrel & Bushel is really reasonably priced. A place you can go for a great family meal, a business lunch or just a casual meal after a long workday or travel day.
With a name like Barrel & Bushel it should come as no surprise that they also have 22 local and regional craft beers on tap, a wide selection of handpicked bourbons, and a wide assortment of unique wines and handcrafted cocktails that will satisfy any palate.
Attention to detail is what you want with a great meal and Barrel & Bushel delivers. Whether you are staying at Tysons Corner, passing through, or just doing some shopping Barrel & Bushel is a stop that can’t be missed.
I'm going to shut up now, and let the food do the talking...
